Terms of service
Who we are
Orange Slice (“we”, “us”) runs the service at orangeslice.tv. Our address is 19951 80A Avenue, Langley, British Columbia, Canada V2Y 0E2. These terms are a contract between you and us. By creating an account or uploading video, you agree to them.
If you’re signing up for a player under 18, you agree to these terms on your own behalf and as that player’s parent or legal guardian.
What the service is
Orange Slice is software. You upload video of a game, match, scrimmage or practice that you filmed or have the right to use. You tell us which player to follow by tapping them once. The software finds that player, cuts the moments they were involved in into separate clips, sorts them by what happened, and puts them in your account.
It works on ordinary phone video filmed from the stands or behind the baseline. It doesn’t need special equipment, and nothing has to run on your phone during play.
The software isn’t perfect. It will sometimes miss a moment, cut one it shouldn’t, or lose the player for a stretch, especially in poor light, at low angles, or when two players are dressed alike. When it’s unsure, it may ask you to confirm a clip. We don’t promise that every moment will be found.
Numbers shown alongside clips (for example court position) are estimates from the video. Anything tagged by hand is labelled that way. We don’t show statistics we can’t measure from the footage.
Your account
You must be 18 or over to hold an account. A player under 18 is signed up by a parent or legal guardian, who holds the account.
One account per person. Keep your sign-in email secure. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
We may close an account that breaks these terms, is used to upload video without the right to do so, or is used to abuse the free trial.
Consent
Before any video is uploaded, the account holder confirms four things, each in its own box: that they’re 18 or over or the parent or legal guardian of the player; that they consent to us processing video of the player; that they’ve read the privacy policy and these terms; and that they have the right to upload the video. We record the date, time and the version of each document agreed to. The full consent notice explains what processing means and how to withdraw consent.
Your video
You own your video and your clips. We don’t claim any rights in them.
You give us permission to store and process your video only to provide the service to you: to find the player, cut and sort the clips, blur other people’s faces, and deliver the clips to you and to anyone you share them with.
We never use your video or clips in advertising or marketing without a separate written release signed by you. Ticking a box at sign-up is not that release.
Only upload video you filmed yourself, or that the person who filmed it has given you the right to use. Don’t upload recordings taken from streaming services, broadcasts or venue camera systems, and don’t use Orange Slice to copy from them. Don’t upload video that breaks the rules of the venue, league or event where it was filmed. You’re responsible for checking those rules.
Other people appear in almost every video: the opponent, teammates, officials, spectators. We never label or identify them, and we blur their faces whenever they’re large enough to recognise. You’re responsible for filming lawfully and, where the rules require it, with the agreement of the people involved.
Don’t upload video that’s abusive, sexual, unlawful, or unrelated to sport. We remove it and may close the account.
How we identify the player
You tap the player once on a frame of your own video. The software follows them from there using what they’re wearing, their jersey number, and where they are on the court, rink or field. We never ask for a photo of the player, never use faces to identify anyone, and never build a model of anyone’s face or body.
Keeping your clips
Clips stay in your account, encrypted, until you download them. When you download the full set, that copy comes off our servers for good, so keep your downloaded copy safe. We recommend downloading after each session, or sending the clips to a coach.
The original video you uploaded is removed from our servers once your clips are ready. If you need clips rebuilt, you upload the file again from your phone.
A share link lets a coach or anyone you choose watch and download the clips for 96 hours. After that, the link stops working and the shared copy is removed.
Clips you never download stay in your account while your subscription is active. When a subscription ends, you have 30 days to download them. After that they’re removed from our servers. Clips from a free trial are kept for 30 days from the day they were made.
Your account keeps a short text record of each session (the date, the sport, the score if you gave it, and the number of clips). It contains no video and no images, and it stays until you close your account.
Free trial
Your first game, match, practice or session is free. No card is needed. Trial clips carry a watermark and can be watched online but not downloaded or shared. Subscribing removes the watermark from clips made after that point; to get clean copies of the trial clips, upload the same file again once subscribed.
One free trial per person. We check email addresses and may block throwaway addresses, repeated sign-ups from one network, or automated sign-ups.
Subscription and payment
The subscription is per player, billed monthly in advance through our payment processor, plus applicable tax. Current prices are on the pricing page. Prices are set per country and charged in your local currency. A second player in the same family is discounted as shown on the pricing page.
Our payment processor is the merchant of record: it takes your payment, collects the tax, and handles card details. We never see or store your card number.
If a founding-family rate applies to your account, it stays at that rate for as long as the subscription stays active. If you cancel and later resubscribe, the rate at that time applies.
You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. We don’t give refunds for periods already paid. See cancelling and refunds.
We may change prices. We’ll email you at least 30 days before a change to your subscription takes effect, and you can cancel before then.
Fair use
A subscription covers one named player. Each player’s account may upload up to 30 hours of footage in a calendar month. That’s more than any one player plays. If an account is being used for several players, or for a team, club or academy, we’ll ask you to add players or move to a suitable plan, and we may pause processing until you do.
Things we don’t promise
We provide the service as it is. We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will find every moment. We’ll fix problems as quickly as we reasonably can.
We don’t promise any sporting or recruiting outcome. We have no relationship with any scout, school, college, club or programme, and we don’t send your clips to anyone. You decide who receives them.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We’re not liable for indirect losses, or for loss of clips you chose not to download. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Your responsibilities
You’re responsible for the video you upload, for having the right to upload it, for keeping a copy of your original file, and for downloading your clips before they’re removed under the rules above.
Changes to the service or these terms
We may change the service, add or remove sports, and update these terms. If a change matters to you, we’ll email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance of the new terms. Each version is dated, and the version you agreed to is recorded with your account.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time through the contact form. We’ll remove your clips and video within 30 days, and your account details within 90 days, except records we have to keep by law (for example payment records) and the record of your consent, which we keep to show it was given.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of British Columbia. If you live outside Canada, you keep any rights you have under the consumer law of your own country, and you may be able to bring a claim in your local courts.
If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
